Outstanding from start to finish. Allen our server was very knowledgeable but didn't oversell. The salmon from Kodiak Alaska was the best I've had since I had some on my trip there. Excellent service. Gets crowded quick. We will be back!!
We ordered desserts as well. I got the coconut mousse and my husband the key lime tart. Both desserts were gorgeously plated. The mousse was delicious, though I would consider it more of a coconut cheesecake. It was far heavier than a mousse. My husband really enjoyed his as well, though I did not try it.
For our entrees I got the seared scallops and my husband the steak. My scallops were cooked to perfection, seasoned and seared perfectly and melt in your mouth good. The asparagus was also delicious but I would have loved more cauliflower puree. I expected the cauliflower to be more of a side than a garnish.
Overall, I would probably give 4.5 stars if I could. Portion sizes are on the small side but well worth the price. Everything was delicious, cooked and seasoned well. I would probably suggest not ordering a steak from a seafood restaurant though, especially with the lack of sides.
Great appetizers. Great drinks. Great company. Great service. Great food. Great dessert.
Came here for my anniversary with my husband. For appetizers we ordered half a dozen oysters and the crab cake. My husband loved his oysters. The crab cake was also very good, being mostly large chunks of crab and little filler.
My husband's steak, while delicious and a good sized portion, was slightly disappointing because it came with no sides at all and was the most expensive menu item. It was slightly fatty but not the grossly chewy fat and very slightly underdone from medium rare. For a predominantly seafood restaurant the steak was decent but 100% needs to include a side for the price.
We eased into Friday night with brilliant, specialty cocktails. The meal started with oysters on the half shell and jumbo cocktail shrimp served to perfection. Entrees included shrimp and grits, grilled redfish and salmon. The fish was prepared with precision and was seasoned perfectly. But the Mac & cheese with crabmeat side was the star. Excellent, selective wine list.
I've been 4 months in Texas since leaving New England, & have been craving fish & chips. Salt Traders killed it. I am totally satisfied. It is pricey, but you are getting great seafood, so it is worth it. New England claims they have the best chowder anywhere. I am born & bred a New Englander, and I have to say that they lost their chowder standing. Salt Traders totally delivered a stock filled chowder that I personally found to be much better. 6 bucks for a cup was worth it. 9 for a bowl of seafood gumbo, and my husband fell in love. He said it was also stock filled & was so delicious. The service is friendly & informative, and we can't wait to go back to try other dinners that were offered. 5 stars & thumbs up. You really should visit Salt Traders, if you haven't been yet.
We stayed in the hotel around the corner from this restaurant, so it was an easy find. We were all impressed with the entire experience at Salt Traders. We will return!
